How to Insulate Non Insulated Boots?

Freezing colds that run below zero degree Celsius can only be beaten by wearing wind cancelling clothes like thermals, woollen attires, PU coated clothings, etc.

But nothing will suffice if your feet are not protected from the cold and that can’t be accomplished by a boot that doesn’t have insulation.

But there’s a problem with insulated boots and that is you cannot wear them throughout the year and you might feel that it is not worth investing in a pair of shoes which you cannot wear all the year round and that makes sense literally!

How to Insulate Non Insulated Boots

And so I have talked with some of the shoemakers in the market and found out some ways in which you can make your non insulated boots insulated!

Isn’t that cool?

Inserting a fleece liner, inserting a warm wool insole and wearing  woollen socks for hiking are some of the few ways you can insulate your non insulated boots.

Need to insulate your work boots

Work boots are one important source to keep the body warm in the chilli winters. If your feet are not warm, no matter how many layers of clothing you wear, your body won’t remain hot.

Insulation in boots helps to provide that warmth to the feet and also helps to prevent the outside cold from getting inside the boots.

There are many types of insulation used in boots nowadays but the best ones are the thinsulate insulation and the shearling insulation.

If your boots are not insulated, they will easily allow the outside cold to enter the boots and to your feet resulting in Frost bites and also when the feet are cold that will get transferred to your entire body.

Therefore, it’s very important to get the right foot attire for the winters.

Ways to turn non insulated boots into insulated ones:/ ways to insulate work boots:

Of course changing boots for every season isn’t fit to the pocket for all and so I have come up with some easy ways by which you can convert your non insulated work boots into workable insulated boots for the winters and enjoy the warmth from it:

1. Inserting a Military boot liner

Made of polyester, these sock liner will not only provide warmth, but will also keep feet dry all day long and the plus is it is slip resistant too!

2. Inserting Natural wool insoles

These woollen insoles are made in 3 layers. The first layer of wool to provide warmth, the 2nd layer of an insulating foam to provide cushioning and the 3rd of a foil to cancel the outside cold and to trap the heat within. You can check your size and even trim them as per needed.

3. Inserting Breathable winter warm inserts

These soft and fluffy insoles are not only very plush and comfortable, they are breathable too which won’t let your feet sweat even if the heat build up inside the boots is high.

These are also non-slip, cold resistant and relieve pressure and pain from the feet too as they have arch and heel support.

4. Inserting Orthotic sheep insoles

These insoles are made of 25mm thick sheep fleece so comfort and warmth are guaranteed. Besides this, they are also orthotic and have arch and heel support.

5. Wearing Fleece boot liner with knitted cuff

These are for your mid cuff length boots to keep feet to cuff warm in the cold. The cuffs folds outside the boots so that there is no tension of the liners slipping inside the boots.

Other ways to insulate work boots

1. Add a foil on top of the insole of the boots

Adding a foil will help to prevent the cold from entering the boots while you walk on the snow.

2. Wear multiple layers of socks

You need to combine different types of socks to serve the purpose. The first socks should be moisture wicking (made of cotton) and breathable, the next one should be thick woollen socks to trap the heat and provide warmth and the third pair of socks should be slip resistant and liner socks.

3. Take your boots to the shoemaker

The easiest way is to take your work boots to the shoemaker and ask him to add the fleece layers temporarily so that once the winter is gone, you can remove them and wear them comfortably in the summers too.

And that’s a wrap!

I hope now you know how to turn your non insulated boots into an insulated one and vice-versa so that they can be utilised all round the year!
