How Do I Shrink My Bib Overalls

Just like always we are fully equipped to help you out with some uncomplicated tricks and simple tips. So don’t abandon your baggy big overalls, just shrink them instead.

How do I shrink my bib overalls?

If you wash your bib overalls according to the instructions given by the manufacturer you won’t be able to shrink them.

You will need some extra knowledge to put some magic into those roomy bib overalls to make them fit you perfectly. So here’s what you can do:

1.) Use hot water to launder the bib overalls, instead of warm water to shrink the fabric

2.) Set the dryer to high heat if you want to reduce the bagginess of your bib overalls. Tossing your bib overalls in the dryer might become a noisy business, so it’s best to just cover the ends of the bib overalls with socks and fasten all the buckles before tossing it in the dryer.

3.) Another method is to take a pot of boiling water and place the bib overalls in the boiling water after turning off the heat. You can leave the bib overalls in there for about 5-7 minutes and voila there will definitely be visible shrinkage

4.) While washing in hot water, you can set the washer to the longest wash cycle available to ensure shrinkage

5.) Even though you can do all these steps to shrink your bib overalls, it is always advisable to practice some caution and check in on the overalls in the washer/dryer from time to time.

With these pretty simple steps you can shrink your bib overalls with ease. These methods are not hard to do or expensive.

All you have to do is change the settings of the washer and dryer or just get a pot of boiling water. If you can do just that, you can turn your oversized bib overalls into overalls that fit you perfectly.

How should bib overalls fit?

Bib overalls are worn instead of pants and hence they don’t have to be way too roomy. But the bib overalls must not fit you too tight either as that can put extra pressure on your shoulders and crotch area, thereby making walking and working in them pretty uncomfortable.

Since they do not fit like regular jeans or trousers you have to exercise some caution when it comes to figuring out the sizing of bib overalls.

They are supposed to have a loose fit to provide greater comfort. The overalls must sit comfortably around the waist, the chest, the shoulders and the bottom.

How to find right size of bib overalls?

While getting bib overalls it is best to go for a waist size 2-6 inches greater than your regular jeans’ waist size.

Measure the fullest part of the bust to figure out how much chest size you would require so as to avoid the bibs sinking into the shoulder or pressing against the chest uncomfortably.

Bib overalls do run longer than jeans. They do have a long rise so it is always advisable to go for bib overalls that are shorter, probably about two inches, than your regular trousers.

When you are looking for your pair do keep these tips in mind and just try them on to ensure that the overalls are indeed comfortable to be in before spending your hard-earned money on it.
